I hate winter. I don't like snow, can't stand cold weather and I don't play hockey. However, about 2 or 3 times a year there are these amazing days when the snow and ice stick to everything in sight and it creates these scenes that even I have to admit are beautiful. This was the case in Guelph on December 26th and here are some images that I was able to capture.

Urban Paws

I spent last Saturday photographing pets at Urban Paws in Kingston, ON. It was a long day, but well worth it. Here's a selection of my favourites from the day.

Zaphod and Marvin

Yesterday I photographed Chris and Cara's two amazing dogs, Zaphod and Marvin. The boys were probably two of the most well behaved animal models I've ever worked with. Zaphod is the eldest at 12 years old, while Marvin is still under a year. They get along quite well considering Zaphod has been ruler of the house for so many years. I think it's safe to say that Cara keeps all three boys under control!

The Hofstetters

Saturday I stopped by the Hofstetter household to photograph Kyla & Owen. These kids are a little bit on the shy side but super cute. Check out the eyes on little Kyla, so huge! One or a few of these photos are going to be used for Christmas cards. Check back soon to see the results.

Lally's Bouquet

Here's a couple of my photographs that you can find hanging on the wall and in the window of Lally's Bouquet. I photographed a wedding back in September and Julie, the owner of Lally's Bouquet was their florist. We met shortly after that and have since become friends. Julie's flowers and arrangements are beautiful and seem to be just a little bit different from what I normally see. She's also one of the nicest people I've met in a long while, honest and very passionate about her business. Lally's Bouquet is located in downtown Kitchener, you should check her out.

Bo and Gus

Last week I traveled to Sandford, ON to photograph Bo and Gus. It's always quite the adventure photographing pets because I'm never really sure how they're going to react with my camera or just me in general. Lori, their proud owner worked very hard and gave out lots of treats to help make my job easier. She was GREAT!
Gus is young and full of energy and probably wanted to chase his ball all day instead of posing for me. Bo has been around for a lot longer and has pretty much lost his eye sight, but still seems young at heart. It's quite amazing listening to Lori speak about Bo and all their time growing up together, she gets the biggest smile on her face.
The photo shoot was great and being out in the country at that time of year with all the beautiful colours and cool crisp air made it even more enjoyable.

JME & Linda

Last weekend I photographed JME and Linda's wedding in beautiful Newfoundland. The ceremony was held at a church in Bonavista and the reception at the amazing Fisher's Loft Inn.
It was my and many of the other guests first time in Newfoundland and I think it's safe to say we all had an incredible time. The night before the wedding we a great dinner at the Inn and then experienced something I'll never forget. The locals decided we needed to try out a few things to really get an idea of what it is to be a true Newfoundlander. They fed us "Newfie" steak, a shot of Screech and then proceeded to pass around a Cod for us all to kiss. After all the laughter and chaos we received our very official "Screeching In" certificate.
The day of the wedding was a bit cold and wet, but that didn't stop anyone from having a good time. I don't think I've ever seen a group that size all have that much fun. Everything involved with the wedding seemed to be kept quite simple, but all of those simple things put together produced a spectacular wedding. I've never eaten that well at wedding before and wouldn't be surprised if I never top it (all I have to say is, "scrunchins"!). I've heard that "Newfies" are the nicest people around, and I can't say I have an argument against that.

Fall Portraits

Marcy, Elly, and Sarah joined me for a portrait session at the park on Monday morning. The day was extremely hot for October and the colours were gorgeous. There was lots of laugh crying going on during the shoot, but the girls never did share what was so funny.
Fall is a great time for portraits. Contact Ben Benvie Photography to book a session before the snow comes!

Craig & Shanna

Craig and Shanna were married this past Saturday. The day was a bit crazy at times, but overall a fun one. I started at Shanna's house with the girls getting ready, I left a little early for the ceremony in Kitchener and soon found myself stopped on the highway sitting in an insane thunderstorm. I arrived a little later than expected, but not as late as Shanna and the girls because there limo didn't show up! They had to drive one of their own cars just to make it on time. Shanna had to deal with this, the HOT October weather and young children running around all day. What a trooper she is, I didn't here one negative word out of her all day. I think that means she's truly happy marrying Craig, because nothing was going to bring her down.

Live Music

Photographing live music is something I love to do. I recently revisited some photos from a few shows that I saw earlier this summer and finally found a bit of spare time to edit them. Seems my "personal" work always gets buried for months at time! Check out my website to view all of the images and definitly check out these two bands. Joel Plaskett and The Pony's

Wayne & Jen

This past Saturday I attended and photographed the wedding of my dear friend Jen. Jen and I met in high school about 13 years ago. Since then we've shared many good times and laughs, including some absolutely ridiculous road trips that have taken us to far off places for very short periods of time. I'm not sure how that much time passed so quickly or when Jen grew up, but it happened and now she's married!
Jen for months kept telling me about this great new boyfriend of hers and how I had to meet him. I finally had the chance at our friend Cathy's wedding, but to my surprise I already knew Wayne. Strangely enough, I met Wayne about 12 years prior to ever knowing Jen! We attended the same the church as children and I certainly didn't forget him because he and his brothers all seemed like giants, as they were probably two feet taller than me! Wayne seems to be a perfect match for Jen and he's able to make her laugh and smile like no one else.
Their wedding was perfect, filled with great weather, a beautiful chapel, fantastic people, heart felt words and lots of laughter. It was everything that I expected would happen on Jen's wedding day, because good things happen to those who radiate with positive energy the way Jen does.
I'm just glad that Jen and Wayne share a "passion" for information and technology, otherwise this day may never have happened!
