Last Saturday I shot Jen and Cal's wedding with my friend Ashley. The wedding took place up north at a camp Ashley and the groom both worked at when they were teenagers. Ashley promised this wedding would be a lot of fun and I must say she was absolutely right.
The setting for the day was amazing, but the weather started off a little less than perfect. It rained all morning, most of the afternoon and probably stopped about 30 seconds before the ceremony started! Any time you have a group of people with attitudes as good as this bunch, things just seem to work out.

Full Moon
+Benvie+copy+.jpg)
I had noticed the moon rising the past couple of days, but I was always a little to late to get a good shot. Tonight I decided to set up early just down from the walking bridge that crosses the Speed river. I had barely set my tripod down when the huge full moon began to rise above the tree line. A short time later the glow of the moon produced a beautiful reflection in the water which allowed me to create this shot.

Zach & Stacey

I had the pleasure of photographing Zach and Stacey's wedding this past Saturday. The wedding was held on Rick and Sharon's beautiful property in the country. I fully expected an amazing day and I wasn't disappointed. The people, music, food and over all atomosphere were perfect.
I said in my last wedding post that I'd be hard pressed to find a couple more laid back than Jen and Nella. I think they found their match!

Felix & Kabrelle

I recently photographed two of my favourite little French Canadians, Felix and Kabrelle. They are too cute. Felix always stares at the camera with wonder in his massive eyes and Kabrelle is just as in love with my camera as I am photographing her!

Jen & Nella

As you saw in my last post, the Winnipeg Folkfest was an amazing time. I was lucky enough to start the festival off on a high note by photographing Jen and Nella's big day. I've never dreamed of getting married in a campground, but after this experience I'd highly recommend it! Hippies, drum circles, tents, music, tall grass, and sunsets, add it all up and you've got one beautiful wedding. Jen and Nella were a pleasure to work with and if I ever meet a couple who's more laid back I'll truely be amazed.

Winnipeg Folkfest 2007

Earlier this summer I traveled to Manitoba to visit friends, shoot a wedding (post to follow), and attend the Winnipeg Folk Festival. This was my second time at the festival and it lived up to and probably surpassed the amazing time I had last year. This festival is unlike any other I've been to. There are two seperate worlds in Bird's Hill Park, one being the campsite and the other being the actual music festival. I've chosen a few of my favourite photos to show everyone and as you'll see, I think I enjoyed the camping more than the music! That's saying a lot, because the music was incrediable.
I couldn't understand what was happening while photographing the moonrise Friday night. This is an explanation I found while searching on the web.
"The ring around the Moon is caused by the refraction of Moonlight (which of course is reflected sunlight) from ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. The shape of the ice crystals results in a focusing of the light into a ring. Since the ice crystals typically have the same shape, namely a hexagonal shape, the Moon ring is almost always the same size."
"A typical corona is only couple degrees in diameter and closely fringes the moon. Although not as intense as a solar rainbow, coronas may appear in several colors. On rare occasions lunar halos and lunar coronas can appear together."
My little buddy Graham helped me with some experimental lighting techniques!
